I took pics of myself in 3 of the dresses from the hunt and absolutely love all 3.  They fit well and look great, and are perfect for Valentines day or any other time.

I also took the pic above of the Tres Beau heels and bag which are great too.  Then I used the provided pics of the other items pictured as they always do pics better than me.  Just visit the stores and look for the double big red lips symbol.  Enjoy!

Beat That!

Let This Be A Challenge To You All by Kara 2

Woot.. high score!  Beat THAT! hehe- really, come ride the mechanical steampunk bull.  I currently have high score, and that's actually a decent score that I'm predicting won't be bested for quite some times.  But try if you like! :)  This beast bucks, spins, snorts, and flares but I think I have him under control!

Plus the whole sim is a great explore with tons to see, do, and find (much hidden too) There's everything from many various rides (very unique) 2 clubs, 2 theaters, one can be booked for free, art gallery, fun house, stores, floating city, dead city, underwater area, inexpensive rentals, zeppelins, games, casino, MANY hidden fun places to explore some naughty, some nice, some funny, some fun, Check it out.. don't get lost.

On another note... ok folks I'm curating The Skywalk gallery on this same sim that is hosting a community exhibit and contest where we are asking YOU to slide a pic into a board there in hopes of winning some Linden but especially to have your image exhibited for fun.  This would be a great Valentines gift showing a loved one maybe a pic of them for the theme "What is Love?" .  Full details at the sim We'd love to have your poem, special words, RL or SL pictures about love which could be your hunny, pet, kids, nature, etc.  Please come have a look.  We have a lot of boards left and it's off to a slow start, although what is there is a intriguing variety.  Thanks

Kill The Kraken, Kill The Kraken, Kill The Kraken at LEA28!

Kraken by Kara 2Kraken by Kara 2

Kraken, a photo by Kara 2 on Flickr.

So I ran over to LEA (Linden Endowment for the Arts-The Lab donated 29 regions for the arts) new volunteer training that Honour McMillan was holding (sounded like she held about 4 million sessions yesterday, poor thing) to learn about this new opportunity and see if I could help out in this place I always love to explore.  Check their blog for the latest info. here: http://lindenarts.blogspot.com/ and if you also would like to be a volunteer, I contact Honour as I'm sure they can use more helpers.

While I was there I went to see the Kraken. Visit here: http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/LEA28/128/128/41
As you can see by the sign there is a Kraken hunt going on over at LEA28.  The Air Kraken are a product of the Questi and Discovolante Mechanical Consortium (Marion Questi and Martini Discovolante).

Their note about the project states: "This region is home to a pod of the legendary Air Kraken, scourge of the sky.  These tentacled monsters of steampunk mythology patrol the clouds, watching for the Aviator foolish enough to come within reach of their flailing tentacles and razor-sharp beaks.
This is a damage enabled region. You can be killed here.  (Which in Second Life means being involuntarily TPed back to your home location.)

Air Kraken can be killed as well. You can hunt them with any weapon which shoots physical bullets. It takes several hits to kill one. Kills are replaced immediately, so you will not run out of targets.
The Air Kraken patrol at about 200 meters.  Good hunting!"

I went on up to the observatory initially, to get a good look at these monsters flying around in the sky before attempting to do anything about them.  And as I was rummaging around in my inventory trying to figure out which guns I have that might actually produce physical bullets (vs combat system guns, pig, condom, and taco blasters, props, etc) a couple of the Kraken actually literally forced their entry into the observatory bubble that was supposed to be my safe haven.  I guess they did that by bumping it a million times hard enough to get at me.  They proceeded to try to bump me and although it tickled a little I was not instantly killed.  So, as I still did not have any weapons ready, I "sat" on the back of one, which then seemed to attach itself to yet a 2nd Kraken and they began spiraling upward with me attached in what seemingly appeared to be nothing less that the Kraken mating dance.  I was honored to see and touch (sit upon) this legendary beast but also to be up close and privy to their mating ritual.  This bought me some time to finally decide the freebie LL popguns I think most of us have in inventory actually shoots physical bullets, and I promptly shot them both dead then I flew off to shoot a few more.  I didn't shoot enough apparently to make the brag board of high scoring visitors.  Later I returned in full hunter regalia for more hunting and a photo by their entry sign.  This is something a little different and fun to do in SL... enjoy.

Fantasy Collective by Kara 2

The Fantasy Collective opens 1-20-14, about the time I finish this blog post most likely.  The event is home to fantasy items such as apparel, hair pieces, skins, shoes, novelty items, wings, tattoos, builds, poses, jewelry, etc. I hear this mini-round in a build in the sky (that is for sale there too) is the last round ever. The items are exclusive, and won't be available outside the event for 3 months.  I wanted to see but specifically went for the animated pet chimera cub attachment by Alchemy.  Since they have such cute stuff I also picked up one of their gacha rats there and on the first try got their "Patch" then also pick up this pink one.  The rats sit on your head and move and you hold the chimera cub.

The little chimera is very cute wiggling around like that but looked a bit evil with it's snake tail, so I had to look up exactly what a chimera is and according to Wikki ... "The Chimera (/kɨˈmɪərə/ or /kˈmɪərə/, also Chimaera, Chimæra; Greek: Χίμαιρα Chímaira) was, according to Greek mythology, a monstrous fire-breathing creature of Lycia in Asia Minor, composed of the parts of three animals — a lion, a snake and a goat. Usually depicted as a lion, with the head of a goat arising from its back, and a tail that ended in a snake's head,[1] the Chimera was one of the offspring of Typhon and Echidna and a sibling of such monsters as Cerberus and the Lernaean Hydra."

Paper Observatory LEA12

Paper Observatory by Kara 2

Paper Observatory by Kara 2
Haveit Neox's "Paper Observatory" officially opened today at LEA12 as one of the interim projects and will run through the month of January.  It's actually very cool and took me a while to take it all in.  It's a place you should take a bit of time and look closely.  After landing I cammed up and sat in a couple of different chairs in the dome of the observatory where you can... er... observe quite well. And from there I cammed most of the place then went to the lowest level for different vantage points.

Paper Observatory by Kara 2
While I was there they happened to be filming a machinima that the public was invited to join in on, but I just stayed out of the way just watching and taking a few pics.  Many of the participants dressed as celestial beings of one sort or another and orbited around the top of the observatory area.    I sat and pondered all the sites and people around me.   I
had heard Haveit was making this Paper Observatary in LEA12 so a few days ago I went over to his main build and was impressed there. He built this huge Paper Observatory in a very short time,,, read to the bottom for his notes about the place.
The observatory is made of paper and pieces of paper are flying around with Haveit's planning and notes on them. The place is a great explore and one should really take some time to look around.

His notecard at the sim reads: "
THE PAPER OBSERVATORY
by Haveit Neox

Having been invited on very short notice (2 days!) to build on the LEA 21 sim in January, I gratefully accepted this opportunity to develop and work on the concept of an observatory, the “Paper Observatory”. The inspiration and initial model for this project is the 4 year old Paper Tower on the sim ACC Alpha, this tower being a giant structure in the center of my sim which harbors the visitor center and galleries.
The new Paper Observatory on the LEA21 sim hovers above an ample arena. The city leading up to this build is concentric; rooftops conforming into one large sweep of concavity, suggests a satellite dish. The human activities displayed in the streets and the main square reflect on superstitious times before science’s tenet of universal proof, before disease was known to be microbial or before the earth was discovered to be round. In the sky, the Observatory catches the sunlight. This is Second Life, and we can flap our way up to the building’s landing. Requiring flight into the Observatory is an intended motion which I equate with the turning of a page in a book. The walls are of paper since this structure, as its predecessor, is my version of a book. During the month of January, I will continue to refine the textures and the shapes. The deconstruction motif at the base of the structure reflects directly onto the Paper Tower’s story, whose exposed girder skeleton belies questions of permanence.

As the Paper Tower is dedicated to arts, the Observatory will be connected to science and therefore be a venue where one could gather information and get in touch with thought provoking theories.
We live in a time of challenges unlike any other in history. Global Warming is not a political issue, it is an ecological one with direct biological consequences, and it is here now. It affects all of us, no matter our belief systems. In the very near future, as we advance into a world which will be much compromised and readied for the wars of water and the wars of food, the best strategy we can have is to assimilate education from proper scientists, and take the necessary steps without delay. As I learn more about science, I would like to share some of these valuable tools with visitors.

Please check accalpha.blogspot.com for information about my builds and for updates on the latest projects.

Pranksters and Memes

A while back I suggested Strawberry Singh do one of her Monday Memes on practical jokes in Second Life, since I tend to be a fan as long as they don’t cross over into griefing or causing potential defamation, harm, or really making someone feel bad, overly embarrassed or angry.  She used this practical joke idea for her meme this past Monday and I’m finally getting around to blogging it myself.  See her meme list here:http://strawberrysingh.com/

I have enjoyed a few practical jokes over my time in SL and some just verge on creating a fun or nice surprise while others do qualify as a real practical joke.  What spurred me to suggest this for one of Strawberry’s memes is that since I’ve been hanging around The Station and the friendly folks over there,  I’ve been up to a little no good myself on occasion for fun.
the station_004 by Kara 2

*The Prank- Soon after I met sim owner Enigmatic Deir I decided he needed his place toilet papered so I went about tping his place leaving waving strips of  the white stuff hanging from the ceiling and furniture and rolls of it lying all about.  When I was about done two of his good friends and sim managers showed up to see, and we decided to take some “delightful” photos of the 3 of us to also leave for him.  To this day one of those pics hangs in his bedroom and is also in his profile picks.

*The Revenge-E was quick with the revenge gifting each of us a crazy, deranged, blood pecking, chasing, crazy steampunk chicken.  The thing is truly annoying and relentless once rezzed.  Then he put one or maybe a couple of these beasts in his funhouse over at The Station here:   http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/The%20Station/196/50/1040   and I can’t even draw a weapon quick enough to shoot that sucker.  I began plotting revenge immediately.

*The Prank-The 3 of us girls left chicken feathers and pieces all over  his place along with photos and a video of us doing away with his chicken demon.

*The Revenge-Not long after that the 3 of us girls who participated in the above pranks each rezzed into our homes only to soon find a huge amount of motion trigger explosives, that yes, exploded all over the place.  Luckily I'm fast with the camera at times and caught a couple of  pics of the explosion.

enig prank_001 by Kara 2enig prank_001 by Kara 2

*After that I took to leaving special notes and once filled E’s place with over 300 balloons in the main room so that when he rezzed in he was mostly covered with poppable balloons.  When he IM’d me asking if I left something in his place that he would be returning, I told him to hang on I was on my way over to help pop those suckers as I did NOT want over 300 balloons in my inventory.

*The Revenge- ok so his latest prank to me was a bit off the charts and naughty so I can’t reveal it here but now I need to think of something extra special to get him back with… anyone have any great ideas?

Over time I’ve done little pranky things to other friends, some others that come to mind are leaving porn under my neighbors office desk,  parking my trike, then stack of rusted old cars, and other things in the office parking spot he so kindly made for me.  Of course he was worse.  Once we were in a meeting talking about very serious stuff and there was a box of truffles on the office table we sat around.  The next thing I knew one was on my nose and then a few other unmentionable places.  I was laughing so hard and I couldn’t get the things off me until it dawned on me to delete them as I was the one who had left them on the table in the first place.  Thankfully no one else noticed.   Of course it’s always easier to prank when you have rez rights and/or the other person’s build perms.  Anyway, those are just a few of the fun things I remember.  Let me know if you have some other cute good prank ideas.

Furry Game Night on Sleddy's Rez Day

Filmed in the virtual world of Second Life with a group that has been meeting for a long time for game night, theme dress and photos. I joined them for Sleddy's (aynesleigh.violet) rez day and had some fun with Greedy and SLictionary games along with group dancing and some photos.  Great group of fun people.

Ziki Questi at Dryland-Lost Second Life

Ziki Questi at Dryland by Kara 2
Ziki Questi at Dryland, a photo by Kara 2 on Flickr.

Ziki Questi is a well known SL explorer and photographer who does a great job taking amazing pics of SL destinations.  She documents these on her blog: http://zikiquesti.blogspot.com/ along with some events and shares links.  When I am out exploring I often run across her, and sometimes we are blogging the same place,  which I love to see how she perceived a place. She is also now my unofficial events editor (just kidding but inside joke-an I wish sort of thing).

Sometimes Ziki exhibits her art around SL too and currently has an exhibit at Dryland.  I have blogged Dryalnd before since it's a cool place to explore with a variety of things on the sim.  The sim is owned by Anita Witt who does a good job of bringing in some of my favorite SL artists and builders.  Ziki's exhibt there has been up a while, but I wanted to mention it as  I am a fan, and this one is about wonderful SL sims that are no longer.  It's entitled "Lost Second Life".

One of the notes associated with her exhibit states: "Ziki Questi's photography has been exhibited at Amore Perduto (2011-2013), Artists for SL (2012-ongoing), the Avalon Arts Initiative (2011), Dryland (2012), the Eagle Eye Gallery (2013), RoHaus (Radio Days, 2011), Serenity Gallery (2011) the Town Hall of Dee (2011) and the Virtual Chelsea Hotel Gallery 23 (2013). She maintains a gallery of her work in Dreamworld North and has also maintained galleries at Avalon Town and Babele Fashion. In 2013, her work was presented by Tanalois Art and torno Kohime Foundation at the Red Lines Gallery, and also at Plusia Ars Island.

She participated in the sim-wide "A Rusted Development" (2012-13) at LEA1 with her work "All the Alruses of the Which Ones," at Burn2 (2012) with the installation "lippes in smiling mood, kiss akiss after kisokushk (thank you Mr. Joyce)," and at HaveIt Neox's sim-wide build "Stirring the Dreams" with her installation "The Bridge of Quests" (2012-ongoing). She curated an Avalon Collector's Circle exhibition (2012-2013) at the Avalon Art District Exhibition Hall. She is the curator of AM Radio's The Far Away.

As a blogger, Ziki Questi writes about the arts, destinations and other Second Life subjects. She is a staff writer and photographer for AVENUE Magazine and served as an adjudicator for the 2013 University of Western Australia (UWA) Centenary 3D Art Challenge and Machinima Challenge.
As a performing artist in real life, Ziki Questi's human has presented work throughout the United States and Europe, has collaborated with other artists in dance, music, television, film and theatre, and has been published and cited in books, journals and other media."

Karoke Anyone?

The Station in Second Life is a huge sim full of multiple clubs and theaters and tons of things to explore, but it has this one club area called The Attic where people can come do open mic by arrangement or if a regular can sort of manage their own like Av does every Monday at 6pm SLT. Anyway, they've got a few people who want to give it a try so are considering maybe a Saturday or something to just give a bunch of people a chance to try a song or two sort of karoke style to see how they like it.  And I got to thinking about karoke and which songs might be good for that and I found this guy on Youtube who puts lyrics to dub step and instrumental type songs, and maybe I'm easily entertained but OMG its' too funny to me.  Hey, maybe even I could do this for karoke night? Anyway.. It can start out a little slow so skip around  or go to minute 3 or so and you get a good feel for why I'm still laughing.  it's extra funny to me as I know someone who does a great dub step sort of old beat box fashion and sounds good at it too.  Hehe.. Ok, Karoke here I come!

And if you want to do some karoke or open mic let me know or visit The Station in Second Life and check it out.

Final Days for MIC Imaginarium's Red Shoes Project

MIC by Kara 2

Their noted information notice states in part:

"RED SHOES
MIC-Imagin@rium in collaboration with Il Margutta Art Gallery - Rome (Italy) - present "RED SHOES", December 2 - January 7

Elaborating on the idea of the Mexican artist Elina Chauvet, who in 2009 exhibited his first installation "Zapatos Rojos" in Ciudad Juárez, which later became "viral" around the world, 25 metaverse's artists have each created a work around a pair of red shoes.

The art and creativity, whether digital or "analog", have always been an instrument of denunciation, and we will get the heart and soul so that the message against violence on women continues to be disclosed by force.

The support of the spectacular show was created by Colpo Wexler. The red mesh shoes for installations were created by Rumegusc Altamura.

The participants in the exhibition are: Alpha Auer, Blue Tsuki, Cica Ghost, Daniele  Daco  Monday, Giorgio Mayo, Giovanna Cerise, Kicca Igaly, La Baroque, Lookatmy Back, Maddomxc Umino, Merlino Mayo, Mexi Lane, Mhyns Mayo, Mikati Slade, Mila Tatham, Nessuno Myoo, Nexuno Thespian, Nino Vichan, Paola Mills, Solkide Auer, Sniper Siemens, Swina Allen, Rubin Mayo, Rumegusc Altamura, Violetta Inglewood, Viviana Houston"

At the end of the exhibits they house their art fashion and since I like that sort of thing I bought two tops a Monet and a Kandinsky.

I took a trip over to LEA6, A Cathedral Dreamer, featuring fractal art by Gem Preiz that opens tomorrow Monday, January 6 at 2 pm slt at LEA6, as part of the LEA Full Sim Art Series.  I snapped a shot of Gem then took a few quick pics while here.   I will explore more later when it's actually officially open but it consists of four main buildings.  There is a nice info. card at the landing which I always appreciate. The Sim consists of four exhibition halls served by a central square where visitors arrive.  "The central and empty square is a kind of crossroads symbolizing the choices which each of us inevitably has to make about the various attitudes towards Life, the world and other people, and the halls represent my own experience of it."  So be sure to read the note, there are suggested lights and info for each of the 4 spaces.

The Chapter Four and Pocket Pets!

Visit here: http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Compotista/128/128/15

The Chapter Four re-opened again yesterday on the 4th with new products. I was actually looking forward to this one in plans of finding the pocket pets by Birdy in the gacha area.   The place was packed as was to be expected on the first day opening again, but I found the little guys right away among the many items The Chapter Four has to offer from clothing, furniture, novelties, etc., and went right to work buying up several of these little guys for myself and friends at only .50L each.  They are adorable and come with huds to change the pocket to match the color of the shirt or jeans or whatever area of your clothing you want a pocket with pet on (44 color options, resize, hud, attach anywhere) .  And no your don't have to feed or care for them.   Here is a link to see them up-close and with more info: http://www.flickr.com/photos/78098745@N05/11744892035/in/faves-karatrapdoor/

First I got some kittys, pugs,  and bunnys of various colors then yay I got the rare corgi then the coveted SLOTH!  Woot!  I'm so happy the simple things can give me such pleasure because these really do.  Even my partner E likes my pussy. (whoops did I just say that?, yes I did)  Everyone liked the little critters as they are way too cute.

Annwn Willows has been remodeled and so I went over and explored a little, taking a few pics along the way.  This time around, the mainland is covered in a lot of deeper water and if you swim around you can find this cool colorful group of fish that have some fun poses built in. The water itself is pretty photographic with lots of lights and reflections which you can sort of see in the above pic.   I donned a mermaid outfit for some photos with the fish then ventured up to the sky level which has not changed much as far as I can tell but is still very fun with the rezzing flying bird and fun pose spots.

As you can see from these two similar pics taken on a chair poser in the sky level windlights work great at Annwn and to top it off there are some cool northern lights up there if you like to take photos.

I visited the store area which again has not changed much but still great looking, then went back to ground level above water and snapped a couple more pics such as this floating rock formation and the boat area. If you look close you can even see me flying one of the bird rezzers, which is a unique way to tour.  Sim by Joanna Corith.  Check it all out again.
